ABOUT ME
Steven Altinel is a conductor, pianist, accompanist, music director, choir director, educator, and voice coach. He is the Choir Director at Walt Whitman High School and the Artistic Director and Founder of the Long Island Musical Theatre Festival.
Steven's work includes main-stage productions, musical revues with Broadway performers, professional ensembles at New York City and Long Island venues including Manhattan Concert Productions and The Argyle Theatre, and college programs at Adelphi University and Nassau Community College. His high school choirs have performed on the stages of Carnegie Hall and in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
Steven’s passion for music and directing began at an early age. Steven studied piano in the 5th grade, accompanied choirs six months later, and made his music directing debut three years later leading the 8th grade school musical. In high school, Steven directed the annual middle school musical productions.
Today, Steven maintains an active voice studio specializing in healthy musical theatre singing, where he coaches students preparing for competitive musical theatre college programs and professional auditions.

A passionate educator, Steven has taught professional workshops and seminars in musical theatre auditions and singing technique for many organizations including his most recent work with New York State Theatre Educators Association (NYSTEA).
Steven also regularly performs with the eVoco Voice Collective – an award-winning collection of singers of the highest musical, technical, and expressive abilities whose shared mission is to invite listeners into the extraordinary experience of singing, together.
